We want this website to be clear and usable by as many people as possible.

Using the site

You should be able to navigate with a keyboard, zoom text, use browser reading tools and understand links from their wording. Images that convey meaning include alternative text. The Access control on every page offers larger text, increased contrast, a simpler typeface, reduced movement and machine translation of website pages. It does not translate the full book.

What we have improved

The site includes a skip link, visible keyboard focus, descriptive page titles, labelled controls, meaningful link wording, larger touch targets and support for browser reduced-motion and increased-contrast preferences.

Known limitations

Some historic book artwork and photographs may contain text that is not fully reproduced in the image description. The authorised book preview reproduces published pages and is not yet a complete accessible digital edition. External documents and websites are controlled by their publishers.
